Niamh and Eric — Married!

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Niamh and Eric’s wedding was so much fun for me and such a pleasure to photograph. Both the bride and groom were super laid-back from start to finish, which gave me the freedom to focus on being my creative self. It didn’t hurt either that there were tons of amazing personal details! From the names of the bride’s single girlfriends written on the bottom of her shoe for good luck to a live band that accompanied their entire ceremony, nothing was overlooked and everything was beautifully unique. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

It’s in the details…

Maybe it’s all the wedding blogs I follow or a natural extension of my art work, but I have a serious obsession with detail shots! I love to take them at weddings, engagement shoots, or even in the middle of making dinner. The more I’ve thought about this, the more I’ve wondered what they mean to me. And I think it comes down to what I’ve always said: I don’t take photos, I make photos. When a client asks me to photograph their wedding I don’t just see it as the documenting of an event; I’m telling a story — your story. These details are the details of you, your relationship and your personality. The unique descriptions of your joy and celebration on that day.
